North Carolina Wrecks (July 17–19, 2026)

Wrecks, sharks, and more!

Join us for three days of diving with Olympus Dive Center on July 17, 18, and 19, 2026. We have booked 8 slots with Olympus for morning departure and two-tank dives.

Known as the Grave Yard of the Atlantic, North Carolina offers amazing wreck diving opportunities. The Gulf Stream brings clear, warm water during the summer months—temperatures in the high 70s and 75'+ visibility are very common.

The NC wrecks are also home to sand tiger sharks, making this a great opportunity to see these amazing animals up close.

Trip details

  • Diving: 2 dives per day (one or two locations depending on weather/sea conditions and customer preference)
  • Final call on sites: Captain and crew make the final decision on locations
  • Dive profiles: All dives are recreational no-decompression dives
  • Depths: Offshore wrecks are typically 90'–120'
  • Possible wrecks: U-352, Papoose, Schurz, Aeolus, Spar, Caribsea, Atlas
  • Nitrox: Not required, but highly recommended

New Jersey Wreck Diving (seasonal)

The coast of New Jersey has an abundance of wrecks to explore. Currents and surge have damaged many of the wrecks, but there are still some pretty amazing things to see.

What to expect

  • Season: Typically June through early October
  • Trips: From June to September, we organize half-day, two-tank trips using local dive boats
  • Recommended training: Advanced Open Water (AOW) is recommended
  • Common boat requirements: A redundant air source, SMB, and an audible surface signaling device are required on most boats

North Carolina Wrecks and Sharks (summer weekends)

In the summer months, the Gulf Stream waters provide warm temperatures, great visibility, lots of tropical marine life, and sand tiger sharks. NC wrecks range from purposefully sunk reefs to WWII casualties—including the German submarine U-352.

June, July, and August are usually ideal for long weekend trips that include lodging and diving. These trips are also a great fit for divers looking to build experience through Advanced Open Water, specialties, and Technical Dive training opportunities.

St. Lawrence Seaway, New York (June–October)

The St. Lawrence Seaway connects the Great Lakes to the North Atlantic. Unlike the lakes, the constant flow of water offers consistent temperatures from late spring to early fall at all depths. Many of the wrecks are beautifully preserved and in amazing condition.

Trip format

  • Schedule: Trips run Friday to Sunday from June through October
  • Included: Accommodations, shore diving, and boat dives
  • Great for: Advanced Open Water, specialty dives, and Technical Diving training
